4.9-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia’s Masohi Island

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck the Indonesian island of Masohi.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km.

There have been no reports of material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes, as it is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
