Moscow, An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the Commander Islands in Kamchatka Province, eastern Russia.
The Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred on the Islands’ coast at a depth of 35 kilometers.
There have been no reports so far of causalities or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
Last week, a 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Commander Islands at a depth of 47 kilometers.
The Kamchatka Peninsula is located above the “Ring of Fire” in the Pacific Ocean, which is an area extending in the form of a wide arc and witnessing seismic and volcanic activity.
