2021 World Military Parachuting Championship kicks off

Doha- Under the auspices and attendance of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah and with attendance of H.E. President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, the competitions of the 44th edition of World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM) began today.

The opening ceremony of the championship, which is held from November 19-29, was also attended by senior officers of the Qatar Armed Forces and delegations of brotherly and friendly countries participating in the championship.

This tournament brings together 438 players representing 40 countries, including United States of America, Spain and Turkey.

Qatar has started planning to host this significant global sport since joining the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in 2001. 2013 has seen Team Qatar debut appearance in the championship and claimed the second place in 2014 edition.

International Military Sports Council (IMSC) was established in 1948 by five countries including Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands while the first edition of World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM) was held in France in 1964.
