– The Palestinian Ministry of Health said Tuesday that about 160,000 Palestinian children received the first dose of the polio vaccine in the Central Governorate of the Gaza Strip on Sunday and Monday.

The ministry explained in a statement carried by the Palestinian news agency (WAFA) that its teams are working in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to vaccinate children in fixed and mobile centers affiliated with the ministry and UNRWA, amid great turnout from the families.

Last Sunday, a campaign to vaccinate 640,000 Palestinian children against polio was launched in the Gaza Strip.

WHO had previously announced that 1.26 million doses of vaccines and 500 vaccine carriers had been delivered to Gaza
